GCSE and A level exam cancellations: Private Candidates
Posted on 5th March 2021 at 19:52
As mentioned in our last blog post this year GCSE and A level students will be graded by teacher assessments. Following a govenrment consultation it has been decided that private candidates will be assessed in a similar way to other students.
What we know so far is that private candidates will need to be registered with an exam centre which will be using an adapted range of evidence including facilitating the exam board provided assessment materials in a suitable form.
Centres will be assessing candidates based on what they have been taught and the assessment can be conducted remotely. There will be quality assurance processes in place by exam centres and the examination boards and students can of course appeal their grade if they wish.
The Department for Education has promised to ensure sufficient centres are available to assess private candidates and there will be a list of suitable centres published shortly.
For private candidates and pupils in Bedfordshire looking to take GCSE and A level exams, we will be working closely with the exam boards and our partner organisations and will be able to assess private candidates. For more information about our exam services contact us on 01234 480 949.
